I picked up the needles with renewed enthusiasm on Monday so determined was I to finish the tiger woods jumper that has taken me the best part of a year so far. The relationship I have with this make is more off than on. If we were a couple we'd be at the stage where no-one cares whether you're together or not, they are fed up of you splitting up and getting back. Maybe if you've been following this boring saga, you too are just as fed up as me. I had some ridiculous notion if I just knitted, knitted, knitted maybe I could finish it, block it and sew it up for Thursday, Gwyn's birthday. Of course that was an absolutely stupid and unachievable aim.I set myself up for failure.
The length you see above took me two hours. Two hours! It took an age to decipher the pattern - I really hate the way this particular pattern is written. Then around 9 lines into the cable there was some shaping to be done. I got on with it but started to feel that ever so familiar feeling in the pit of my stomach that something was awry. Still confused I just carried on but eventually the nagging suspicion got worse. The increases were only on one side so surely I was misreading the pattern?
That is where ravelry (as always) came to my rescue. If you are new to knitting or crochet or just plain stuck there are some really wonderful crafters in the forums willing to take time out of their day and answer your questions or translate what you really do not understand. I think seven people replied instantly and come the morning I had my answer. I had pretty much fudged it. Now because it's a cable and similarly to the trouble I had at the end of October (eek!) I knew deep down I was going to have to rip it up.
Thankfully as I'd left it in a bag on the floor I didn't need to as George commandeered the needle with the knitting on it as a sword/knife something to hit things with and pulled the knitting right off the needles. Can you imagine how frustrating it would have been if it was all going smoothly?!
