I've edged the latest blanket with a single crochet stitch in yellow and now I've started on the decorative border with the help of my latest crochet book:
Around the corner crochet borders by Edie Eckman was suggested to me on twitter after my post moaning about stitch libraries not giving instructions for going around a corner. I didn't know such a book existed and it is BRILLIANT. If you don't have it, and are into crochet I thoroughly recommend it.
There are 150 borders in this book. Each pattern is written and shown in charts and the charts show the cornerless pattern repeat and the pattern with a corner! So much instruction!
However when I turned the blanket round it looks like it does in the book which is what I'm obviously going for. I'm going to have to unpick it and work this border in from the wrong side of the blanket otherwise the puff stitches don't 'pop'.
I'm still not sure about it though, maybe something simpler would be better. I'll have to take a look at some other patterns in the book.

Ooh, interesting. I've had that book on my 'maybe' list for a while. For my birthday, I'm hoping to sort out my 'stitch library' so perhaps this should be promoted to 'please'!
Blanket looks lovely, though. Hope the second attempt at the border goes well!

You are right, the left side of the border looks splendid!

That book has just gone to the top of my wish list! Looks amazing, sorry you have to pull it all out and start again.
I am going round and round a blanket at the moment and it can be quite boring but that book looks like it could make life interesting.

I work at a book store and have drooled over Around the Corner Crochet Borders quite a bit. Glad to see a positive review!
