We got hitched at the weekend. It was a frenzied ten or so weeks from making the booking at the registry office to the much referenced 'big day'. For those few brief weeks it's been like a rollercoaster of both anxiety and excitement. I wrote a HUGE post on marriage but it never quite got to 'publish' - there always felt like there was something else to add.
We've had the emotionally charged decisions of who was coming, disappointments at who wasn't going to make it, trying to work out what we could do versus what we'd imagined doing and where we were going to do it all squeezed into the space of a few weeks. Quite exhausting. Then there were the fun, less logistical bits like picking out flowers and clothes and folding up bits of tissue paper to make decorations. And then whatever it was at the weekend fell together in a way that will never be repeated and the good life is back.
I'm bushed, grateful and happy.
