I've been subscribing to Simply Crochet since it started and this is the second pattern I've used (the first was the Itty Bitty Rabbit) I enjoy having the issue hit the hall floor, it's one of my little treats and I enjoy having a flick through later in the day. I find the news, books and yarns sections pretty interesting and there are some good patterns but I'm going to hold out another few issues to see what patterns they have because I do find there are quite alot that I am really not the target market for, not my style, not things I would have in my house or spend time creating. One or two issues infact, I've not found one thing I'd like to 'add to the queue'. I've just moved a pile of old sewing and knitting magazines out of the house about 3 or 4 foot high in the great big declutter and I didn't make one thing from any of them so I'm cautious to fill the house up again with publications that don't speak to me. Having said that, it's ideal for new crocheters, lots of instructions and techniques for finishing and quite alot of the patterns that I, in my opinion think are weak from a 'want to have' point of view are great for developing confidence and learning new skills.
Not this pattern though, I like Wink's mandalas all round - they are bright and cheery and I think would look good hung up on a wall. Plus, quick makes when you are doing a blanket are always welcome, almost instant gratification.
Once I started making this, I couldn't stop. I'm afraid I documented a pretty much blow by blow account on instagram Sunday morning. You can follow me here.
I think I'd like to make a few of these for the wall in my room. This one I gifted.
What are you making?
